COMPANY REGISTRATION

In terms of the new Companies Act you do not need to reserve your company name before registration. You are however not guaranteed that your first choice for your company's name is available. If your chosen name is not available your company registration number is your company name until you change it to a name that is available. It is therefore still best, to avoid uncertainty and delay, to start your company registration process by reserving your company's name.

REQUIREMENTS

We will need the following information and documentation from you in order to register a new company for you:

4 alternative company names in order of preference

Information about the company:

  1. Physical address (for registered address)
  2. Postal address
  3. If you have another company/corporation with a similar name, the name and registration number of the existing company/corporation (relevant to franchises)
  4. Email address for company
  5. Telephone number for company

About each director and shareholder:

  1. Full names
  2. Identity number
  3. Share to be held (shareholders)
  4. Residential address
  5. Business address
  6. Postal address
  7. Email, fax and telephone numbers
  8. Occupation (e.g. Businessman)
  9. Nationality (if not SA)

Documents:

  1. Clear certified copies of the identity documents of the directors and shareholders: The face of the individual must be clearly visible and identifiable on the copy.
  2. If you do not have a certified copy you can bring you original identity document to me so that I can certify a copy.

PROCESS:

  1. Company name reserved: The name reservation can take either a few days or up to two weeks depending on backlogs at CIPC (The new Companies Office)
  2. Documents drafted for signature
  3. Documents lodged for registration
  4. On registration we will send you the electronic proof of registration
